the Burden of Memory
This work is a self-reflexive documentation of the aftermath of trauma, which left me preoccupied with the memory of it. Trauma uses its own language through repetition: flashbacks, nightmares, emotional flooding. This work is an attempt to translate this unconscious language into visual form.
This work is made using ink on a roll of paper. Currently, it measures 20 meters in length, but it is meant to be a never-ending permanent work in progress, much like a visual journal, representing the long-lasting aftermath of trauma.
